Easy to Forget

POEMSENGLISHJULY 2024

I was sitting there

On the park bench

All drenched

In the rain

Trying to numb the pain

As I look across my hand

At the gift you gave

In the box you made

Realizing the time

Pretending everything’s fine

Fancy days at the restaurant

Blooming flowers at the dawn

Was it so easy to forget?

So easy to forget?

Long talks till late night

Expensive dinners in candlelight

Was it so easy to forget?

So easy to forget?

Yeah, I am here

Thinking you will come

Lessons learned

Understanding I’m crying

Over something that’s not mine

But all these thoughts

They fade away

My glimpses sway

At the sight of you

You’re here too!

Beach walks, stolen kisses

“Honey you’ll be my Mrs”

It wasn’t as easy to forget,

Not so easy to forget!

Oh no, I guess I was wrong

This doesn’t seem so well

Are you with someone else?

Those promises were so empty

A date at this park?

All lies from the start

Sparks flew when you met me

I was so naive then

Yeah, I’ll never love again.
